EXCITING WEEK

manufactured by me :P SL(from left); PCM; SAM.

Okay. I have to admit the past week has been quite wonderful. I compounded 3 drugs. Well, not many of first semester student get to do that. I mean not every school emphasizes so much on it. Normally, we have to wait until second year to actually get a taste of it.

So, how cool is it? It is nice since it is what pharmacist supposed to do. Glad that I am enjoying it.

The 3 drugs are senega and ammonia mixture, simple linctus and lastly, the potassium citrate mixture.

Senega and ammonia mixture is used as expectorant and decongestant- a drug that is used to bring up mucus and other material from the lungs, bronchi, and trachea or decreases pulmonary congestion.

Simple linctus is for the symptomatic relief of coughs as it coats the throat.

Potassium citrate mixture is a solution used for symptomatic relief of cystitis (inflammation of the urinary bladder) and other mild urinary tract infections. It makes the urine less acidic which reduces irritation when urinating. It is also used to treat/ prevent kidney stones I guess along with thiazide diuretic.

I get to see cadaver today. For those that have no idea what I am talking about, it is a corpse or a dead body for those that are being used in medical training or research. We just have a brief look through the major organs and so on. Nothing particular but I just dislike the formaldehyde smell.

Of course we are not suppose to take any photo of that but I heard from my friends that 1 of my friend (not studying in Australia) took photos of cadavers and post it in facebook. I would prefer to assume that his excitement at the moment makes him perform the act of lack-of-respect.

Stay tuned as I am going to blog about mammography (breast cancer screening) in a few days. Yup, WEIRD.

There are 3 days of career fair in my University as well. Just going to show all the free stuffs I got after I unpack.

I just bought a printer from the city today. So, this week is definitely COOL.
