How about, “What’s the worst ‘best’ book you’ve ever read — the one everyone says is so great, but you can’t figure out why?”

This Q is quite tough to me. I wouldn't be reading it at the first place if it is not interesting. Among the popular nominees are LOTR, J.R.R. Tolkein’s The Hobbit, The Bell Jar and Twilight. In fact last one was no surprise to me. I do not read fiction often and each time I did I regretted doing so.
First book(s) came into my mind, Mind Mapping by Tony Buzan but wait a minute, I have to name the book that murdered my passion for fiction - 红楼梦, The Dream of the Red Chamber, the so-called one of the four greatest Chinese literature and every Chinese should read and bla bla bla...
The book is great if you can understand the confusing nature of historic mandarin, if you can bear with the massive amount of characters in there (you can't pronounce their name) and romantic poems that you failed to understand and it is every where in the book.
I read the first 20 pages over and over again just to try to make sense of their relationship to each other. It is that bad. I practically just flip though the pages when they are reciting poems. Song, they are like you, creepy. At least I can understand your poems though.
It was not one but two freaking thick books and I almost finished the whole book (even I am amazed by myself as I looked back) and they did not not end the story my way, there was no happy ending. The hero did not live happily ever after with the heroine. That was the only thought that keep me reading that book and I did not finish that book.
Now, back to Tony. Mind Mapping is one concept that I keep revisiting and I am still not convinced, even with iMindMap (Official software from Tony Buzan, inventor of Mind Mapping). Borrowed two books from the library last semester and I just returned it few days ago, not convinced still after my third attempt and did not finish the second book. It was a great books to get a few points but the concept did not click with me.
My third nominee, my virgin love novel but they are meant for girls.
I am not suggesting The Relationship Principles of Jesus yet BECAUSE that is one book I would not pick up at the first place but I hope there is still slightest chance of something hit me so hard that I regretted posting this.
and thus, I tag you, YPJ to leave a comment. I know you read my blog.
and you, jacys the book lovers.
